Salisbury, N.C. — The Catawba College women's basketball team utilized a career-high 24 points from
Kairah Dixon-Booker to earn a late win over Mars Hill, while honoring its four seniors for Senior Day in the home finale on Saturday.
TEAM STATISTICS
- Catawba was 29-for-79 (37 percent) from the field, while Mars Hill went 25-of-69 (36 percent) from the floor
- The Lions were 13-for-33 (39 percent) from three-point range; the Catawba Indians were 6-of-27 (22 percent) from long range
- Catawba was 11-of-18 (61 percent) at the free throw line, while MHU was 10-for-17 (59 percent) at the charity stripe
- Mars Hill out-rebounded the Catawba Indians 61-40; their 22 offensive rebounds led to 22 second-chance points
- The Lions had 14 assists to 24 turnovers, while Catawba had 13 assists to just 10 turnovers; the Catawba Indians led 19-7 in points off turnovers
- Catawba led in points in the paint (36-22) and points of turnovers (19-7); MHU held a massive 37-9 edge in points off the bench

- Dixon-Booker poured in a career-high 24 points – nine points more than her previous career high – along with a career-high 14 rebounds

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER
- Dixon-Booker's three-pointer helped spur an 8-0 Catawba run to take an early lead
- The Lions responded with five straight points to pull within one at the 7:30 mark
- Catawba scored the final five points of the quarter to lead 21-18 after 10 minutes
SECOND QUARTER
- Ingram and Williams three-pointers bookended an 8-0 Catawba run that turned a one-point lead into a nine-point lead with just under 90 seconds to go in the half
- Catawba led 38-32 at the halftime break
THIRD QUARTER
- Catawba scored the first five points of the second half; Ingram's three-pointer pushed Catawba's lead to double digits
- Mars Hill responded with back-to-back triples to cut the deficit to 43-38
- Dixon-Booker scored a late jumper to give Catawba an eight-point lead with 10 minutes to play
FOURTH QUARTER
- An 8-0 Mars Hill run turned a 10-point Catawba lead to a one-possession game with two and a half to play
- Adrianna Gullette's layup gave Mars Hill its first lead since 2-0 at the 1:51 mark
- After the teams traded baskets, Dixon-Booker's layup with 38 seconds gave Catawba the lead once again
