WILSON, N.C. — The Catawba College men's volleyball team won the initial set, but surrendered the following three in a 3-1 loss to Barton on Tuesday night at Williams Gymnasium.
TEAM STATS
- The Catawba Indians (6-10) registered a .222 hitting percentage, their second-best in a loss, while allowing Barton (7-8) to post a .340 clip, the best by a Catawba opponent this year
- The Bulldogs were more efficient in setting with a .437 success rate, outdoing Catawba who turned in a mark of .396
- Although the teams tied in aces at 6-6, Catawba was more accurate with 16 errors against the Bulldogs' 21
- The visitors held a 38-36 advantage in digs, but surrendered a sizable 10-3 deficit in blocking
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Justin Arrowood ripped 18 kills from the outside on a sturdy .278 hitting clip with eight digs and a service ace
- Anders Christianson chipped in eight kills, five digs and a team-high two aces
- John Clinton and Logan Neitzel supplied steady contributions of seven and six darts, respectively, with one solo block apiece
- Wyatt Eastin enjoyed a solidly efficient day with four kills on six swings in the middle as he and position mate Neitzel each logged an ace
- Kristian Smith was tabbed with 38 assists, eight digs and a solo stop at the net
- Max Adkisson led the defensive effort with 11 digs while tacking on three helpers

Catawba will be back in action in 10 days, resuming play at Tusculum on Friday, Mar. 20. The Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (IVA) meeting is scheduled to commence at 6 p.m.
