GREENWOOD, Ind. — Jashaun Hawkins of the Catawba College men's basketball team was named an Academic All-District honoree by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon.
To be considered for Academic All-District/All-America status, nominees must compete in 90% of games or start at least 67%, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and
In his senior season, Hawkins provided the team's second-most three-pointers (33) on a 37.9% success rate from beyond the arc. The Bull City native appeared in 29 of 32 games while averaging 5.6 points in 9.6 minutes per contest, also totaling 12 steals and seven assists. Hawkins' strongest performance was on Dec. 13 when he posted team highs of 16 points and eight boards against South Atlantic Conference foe Tusculum.
On the academic side, Hawkins is pursuing a bachelor's degree in information systems and technology through Catawba's Ketner School of Business.
Hawkins becomes the second Catawba men's basketball player all-time to earn Academic All-District laurels following Jeremy Carswell (1998).
