Sumter, S.C. —- The eighth-ranked and top-seeded Catawba College men's tennis team rolled to a 4-0 win over eighth-seeded Carson-Newman in the quarterfinal round of the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament on Thursday at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Agustin Mastri and Luca Bergonzi rolled to a 6-1 win in the top-ranked doubles match
- Alessandro Valletta and Mateo Berne clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at #3s
SINGLES
- Santiago Passoni earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at #2 singles
- Agustin Mastri made it a Catawba sweep in the top two ranked singles matches with a 6-2, 6-4 win over the Eagles top-ranked singles opponent
- Alen Bill helped clinch the match with a 7-5, 6-3 win in the 5th-ranked singles match
- Valletta also earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at 6th-ranked singles, but after the clinch point was reached
- Ryosuke Inagawa also neared a final result in his 4th-ranked singles match with a 6-3, 6-5 lead
