ROCK HILL, S.C. — Allison Filosa of the Catawba College women's lacrosse team was tabbed to the All-South Atlantic Conference Third Team on Tuesday afternoon, becoming the program's first postseason honoree in four years.
Filosa powered the Catawba Indian defense with team highs of 27 caused turnovers and 42 ground ball pickups, also adding 12 draw controls and one assist. She ranked fourth in the SAC for both takeaways and ground balls against conference foes.
The Mastic, N.Y., native's best performance of the year came in the SAC opener at Lincoln Memorial in which she tallied four caused turnovers and five ground balls — both career highs. She tied the takeaways total less than a month later in the 14-8 victory over Coker.
Filosa recorded the eighth-highest caused turnover mark in single-season history. Her 47 career caused turnovers and 77 ground balls are just shy of making the all-time list.
