Anderson, S.C. —- The third-ranked Catawba College baseball team suffered a setback on Friday when it dropped the series opener at Anderson, 5-4, falling just short of a 9th-inning comeback with two outs in South Atlantic Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
THIRD INNING
- Dyer singled to lead off the third and stole second
- Dunlap's two-out single up the middle scored him for the game's first run
- A double for Anderson in the bottom half set up a one-out sac fly to tie the game at 1
SIXTH INNING
- It was Dunlap's turn to hit a leadoff single and steal second in the sixth
- Ty Hubbard's two-out RBI single through the right side brought him home to regain the lead
- A leadoff doubled followed by a single put runners on the corners for the Trojans with nobody out
- An infield single and an RBI sac fly put AU on top, 3-2
SEVENTH INNING
- A two-out, two-run single scored two more for Anderson in the seventh
NINTH INNING
- Malachi Cloud singled up the middle with two gone in the ninth for Catawba
- Dyer singled and Crabtree brought them both home with a double to left-center, bringing the tying run to second base
- Anderson brought in a reliever who ended the game with one pitch
