SALISBURY, N.C. – The Catawba men's soccer team extended its win streak to five as seven different players scored in an 8-0 rout of Virginia State on Wednesday night.
Freshman forward
Dylan Davis recorded a brace by scoring his first two career goals.
João Magalhães,
Diogo Correia,
Guilherme Quintas,
Breno Andreucci,
Gabriel Miranda and
Juan Camilo all added to the blue and white's impressive goal tally.
Catawba (5-0-1, 2-0-0 SAC) turned in its fourth straight clean sheet. The Catawba Indians outshot the Trojans 42-1, marking the most shots in a match for the program in over a decade. Half of the blue and white's shots were on goal. Catawba earned 11 corner kicks while not giving up any.
Magalhães got the scoring started in the sixth minute when he put it past the Trojan keeper unassisted for his second goal of the season.
Correia took the Catawba Indians' penalty kick in the 30th minute and had it saved before collecting the rebound and scoring his first career goal to take a 2-0 halftime advantage.
The reigning back-to-back SAC Defensive Player of the Week, Quintas delivered offensively by scoring from a Miranda crossing pass in the 46th minute.
Eleven minutes later, Andreucci would add his third goal of the season, finding the net unassisted.
Patrick Ostergreen set up a 60th-minute goal for Miranda, who scored in his second consecutive match.
Davis would supply his two goals in the 69th and 77th minutes, both coming unassisted in just his second career match.
Camilo capped off Catawba's highest scoring output since 2022 by finding his third goal of the year in the final minute.
The Catawba Indians will be back at Frock Field on Saturday, September 19th, when they host Emory & Henry in a SAC matchup at 3:30 p.m.

Fletcher Harris before the match, a beloved member of the men's soccer program for the past three seasons. A double major in Environmental and Sustainability and Biology, Harris, a native of Catawba, North Carolina, was consistently recognized on the Presidential Honor Roll and Dean's List before tragically passing away as a result of a car accident on January 16th, 2026.
Fletcher Harris left a lasting memory on Catawba College and Catawba Athletics with his infectious personality, love for life and for each of us. At Fletcher's services, his mother repeated the phrase 'Be the Light', encouraging each of us to follow his example and to be a positive influence in each other's lives with the same passion and fun-loving spirit as Fletcher did.
