Bryce Suber enters his second season as Cornerbacks Coach in the fall of 2025.
In his first season in Salisbury, Suber led a cornerbacks room that included Juice Martin, who led the team with two interceptions and was named the WePlayed Sports SAC Special Teams Player of the Week after a seven-tackle, two-interception performance against Newberry, which included a pick-six on a botched field goal attempt. The position group also featured Nigel Gay, who started in seven games as a freshman.
Suber also played a role in bringing in three transfer cornerbacks prior to the 2025 season in Nehemiah Washington (West Alabama), Jamari Broady (Charlotte) and Amond Myers (The Citadel).
Suber joined Haines' staff after a year serving as the defensive coordinator at perennial prep school power IMG Academy.
"We are excited to announce the addition of Coach Suber to our coaching staff!", Haines said. "Bryce has the personality, work ethic and football IQ to help develop our student-athletes both on and off the field!"
In his year in Bradenton, Fla., Suber helped lead a defense that averaged just 7.6 points per game. Under Suber's direction, the Ascenders won their second straight National Post Grad Athletic Association (NPGAA) national championship.
Suber comes to Catawba with college coaching experience, most recently spending two seasons with the University of South Florida as a defensive graduate assistant and later defensive analyst, specifically assisting with the secondary and preparing weekly scouting reports.
In previous stops, Suber was a defensive assistant at Presbyterian College and Furman University. Suber earned his Masters in 2019 while working with the staff at Austin Peay State University following a four-year career as a part of the East Tennessee State University football program.
"I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to pursue my passion of coaching football here at Catawba College!", Suber said. "I am thrilled to be a part of Coach Haines' staff! I'm ready to get to work!"
