SALISBURY, N.C. -- Simone Trentin notched his second straight game winner as host Catawba rallied for a 2-1 win over Belmont Abbey in men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Frock Soccer Complex. The win moves Catawba to 4-0, equaling its best start since 1994. The Crusaders fall to 1-3.
Belmont Abbey was able to take the lead in the 55th minute. Nate Cox sent a cross through the box that Kenly Owens one-timed into the net from the six for the 1-0 edge.
Catawba didn't wait long for the equalizer. Just past the hour mark, Nico Morillo sent a through ball to Tom Savigar, who slid a shot past Crusader keeper Ben Knust. Trentin stepped up with the game-winner, collecting a ball at the top of the box and firing to the right of the Abbey keeper.
Knust made four saves for the Crusaders as did Gianluca Tommasi in goal for the Catawba Indians.
Catawba looks to go 5-0 for the first time in school history when its hosts Converse on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
