Salisbury, N.C. —- The Catawba College baseball team fell on Wednesday night to regionally ranked UNC Pembroke 11-1 at Newman Park. The Braves improve to 33-10 overall, while the Catawba Indians drop to 25-20 on the year.
Drew Robertson doubled and drove in a run, while Dylan Driver walked twice and scored Catawba's lone run of the night. The Braves pitching staff recorded 16 strikeouts on the evening. Jake Bradley led the Braves with a 2-for-4 day with two RBI.
UNCP scored two in the top of the first on Michael Kocen's sac fly and Will Hood's RBI single to right field. Catawba cut the deficit in half in the third on Robertson's RBI double to left field scored Driver.
The Braves utilized a 6-run fourth inning to build a substantial lead, adding two runs in the sixth and another in the eighth for insurance.
Pembroke's Evan McLean earned the win, allowing a run on three hits while striking out six in five innings of work. Marshall Raper got the loss, giving up two runs on a hit and four walks in 0.2 innings.
Catawba travels to Limestone this weekend to wrap up their South Atlantic Conference slate. Game one on Friday night is scheduled for 6 p.m.
