Mount Berry, Ga. — The Catawba College Men's and Women's Tennis teams sent individuals to compete in the 2025 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup at the Rome Tennis Center in Mount Berry, Ga. on Thursday and Friday.
Sofia Antolini defeated her opening round opponent from West Florida in a three-set thriller before falling to the overall top seed from Barry.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Women's Open Singles
- Antolini defeated UWF's Carlota Verdu 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 in the opening round on Thursday to advance to the program's first ITA quarterfinal
- She took the number one overall seed – Barry's Dana Heimen – to a tiebreak in the first set before ultimately falling 6-7, 0-6 in the match
Men's Open Doubles
- Catawba's regional champion duo of
Agustin Mastri and
Luca Bergonzi fell in a tiebreak, 6-7, 6-3, 0-1 (6-10) in the opening round of the men's doubles tournament
Women's Open Doubles
- Catawba's regional champion of
Lili Drukerova and
Ami Miya also fell in a tiebreak in the opening round to UT Tyler's Yona Bancarel and Natalia Gorzny 0-6, 6-2, 0-1 (11-13)

Rin Igarashi and Antolini also bowed out on the other side of the bracket to Findlay's Audrey Oullet and Anamarija Kovacevic in a tiebreak – 4-6, 6-3, 0-1 (7-10)
