SALISBURY, N.C. — The Catawba College men's soccer team endured a 3-1 setback to Anderson, the nation's fourth-ranked team by United Soccer Coaches, on Wednesday afternoon at Frock Field.
TEAM STATS
- Catawba (4-3-1, 1-2-1 SAC) bombarded the Trojans (5-0-3, 3-0-1 SAC) with a 19-7 shot differential including an impressive second-half margin of 13-2
- Anderson made the gap tighter in on-target attempts, which Catawba led 8-5
- The Catawba Indians tripled up the Trojans in both halves in the corner kicks category with a 9-3 difference in opportunities
- The visitors played a considerably cleaner match, being whistled for five fouls to Catawba's 10 as the Catawba Indians were given the contest's lone yellow card
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Lukas García Huidobro came off the bench to net his first career goal, receiving assistance from Tomas Kelly
- Giovanni Benericetti launched a team-high five shots with two on target, while García Huidobro led the on-goal count with three
- Carlos Zapata, Adriano Melo and Vito Venaría each sent in one shot on goal
- Héctor Vara had a .400 day in goal, pocketing two saves in his eighth career start
