Brookfield, Ill. — Catawba College senior offensive tackle
Avery Swinton added more All-America accolades to his award-winning season, as he was named First Team All-America from the Associated Press and the Don Hansen Football Committee, the organizations announced.
Swinton was named the 2025 South Atlantic Conference Jacobs Blocking Trophy award winner, honored to the top offensive lineman in the league and was a national finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, given to the top lineman on either side of the ball in all of Division II football.
The Jacksonville, Fla. native adds First Team All-America honors from the AP and Don Hansen to his Second Team All-America accolades from the American Football Coaches Association.
Swinton is the first Catawba Indian to be named First Team All-America since Clayton Crile was a First Team All-American punter by D2CCA. Swinton is the first AP First Team All-American since fellow offensive lineman Cole Beane earned the honor following the 2003 season.
The four-year veteran of the Catawba Football program helped lead an offensive line unit that was widely regarded as the best unit in the SAC. while helping lead a Catawba offense that ranked best in the league in total offense and among the highest ranked offenses in the country.
