EMORY, Va. – The Catawba College men's basketball team looks to get back on track Saturday, venturing north to challenge Emory & Henry at 4 p.m.
Close One with Coker
- The blue and white suffered a 93-88 loss to the Coker Cobras on Wednesday, marking the first home loss for Catawba in 2025
- Entering the matchup 16 three-pointers away from tying the program's all-time record, Kris Robinson sank five long-range darts in an 18-point performance
- After recording a double-double against the Cobras in mid-January, Ibra Athie supplied another big outing with 17 points and a season-high 15 rebounds
- Catawba also received double-figure scoring nights on high success rates from reserves Caleb Jones (13 points, three assists) and Zion McDuffie (11 points)
Old Dominion Dominance
- In head coach Rob Perron's tenure at Catawba, the program is 8-1 in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- The last program to beat Catawba in Virginia was UVA Wise on Feb. 3, 2021 in 85-71 fashion
- Two of the last three trips threatened to snap the Catawba Indians' six-game winning streak as Emory & Henry fell short by four points last season and UVA Wise was on the doorstep in an 82-78 battle on Nov. 26
All-Time Series
- Catawba's come-from-behind 95-92 victory at Goodman Arena in December extended its winning streak in the series to six
- Nick Walker erupted for 33 points, the team's individual high of the season, in the programs' first clash; however, the junior forward has been inactive for the last two contests
- The blue and white have prevailed in both of their previous trips to the King Center, squeaking out a 95-91 triumph last season
Scouting the Wasps
- Emory & Henry has dropped nine of its last 10 matchups to enter Saturday's clash with a 5-19 overall record including a 3-17 conference tally
- E&H surrendered 100 points in its last two contests, facing league-leading and seventh-ranked Lincoln Memorial as well as Coker and its high-scoring offense
- The Wasps lead the league and stand 19th in the country with 4.5 blocks per game, powered by Assad Madassalia's 2.75 swats per matchup – good for fourth nationwide
- Four players are averaging 11 or more points as freshman Korbin Dixon tops the Wasp lineup with 13.5 points per game on a 52.4% shooting percentage
