NEWBERRY, S.C. – Off to the program's best start in conference play under Head Coach Caitlyn Corace, the Catawba College women's lacrosse team takes on Newberry at Setzler Field on Saturday at noon.
Outlasted the Cobras
- Catawba went back and forth with Coker on Wednesday, but eventually left the snakes in the dust with a 19-10 rout at Shuford Stadium
- Rylie Faircloth and Abby Shuren topped the scoresheet with four goals apiece as Mary Sorvillo and Skylar Mullin each netted three scores, tallying four hat tricks on the day
- Joey Baillie captured six draw controls and collected three ground balls while adding a goal and two dimes
- Mullin notched three caused turnovers as fellow freshmen Allison Filosa and Hannah Abel tacked on two apiece
- Ava Kunza improved to 5-3 in the crease with seven saves in her fourth career complete game
Leading the Way
- Shuren stands atop the lineup with 14 of the squad's 100 goals scored this season
- Baillie is the Catawba Indians' assists leader at six distributions, two away from tying her sophomore season mark in less than half the games
- Filosa slots first on the team with 22 ground balls and is positioned eighth in the South Atlantic Conference on a per-game basis (2.75)
- Kylie Harris has nabbed 21 draw controls with seven free position goals, both team highs
- Meredith Marchetti and Audrey Adelsberger have been Catawba's most prolific swipers at 12 and 11 caused turnovers, respectively
All-Time Series
- The Catawba Indians have a 6-5 advantage in the all-time series with Newberry
- In recent history, however, the Wolves are 4-0 with sizable wins in the past two seasons (16-6 in 2024, 25-2 in 2023)
- When the Wolves host, the blue and white face a 3-4 deficit featuring three matchups decided by one goal

Scouting the Wolves
- On Monday, Newberry was named one of six programs in consideration for the USA Lacrosse Top 20 ranking as the Wolves hold a 6-3 overall record, going 3-1 against the SAC
- The red and white won six of their first seven contests before falling to Slippery Rock and Wingate; the No. 19 Bulldogs needed three overtime periods to beat Newberry on Wednesday
- Amelia Hawkes and Emma Jobs lead the scoring with 27 goals apiece, slotting third in the league for goals per game (3.00)
- Ranked first in the SAC and third nationally with a .555 save percentage, Mack Dorr has been tough between the posts as the Wolves' starter while posting a 9.16 goals-against average
