#6 Women's Tennis earns first-ever top seed in Southeast Regional, will host May 12-13

Indianapolis, Ind. —- The 6th-ranked Catawba College women's tennis team earned the top seed in the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Southeast Regional, earning hosting privileges for the first time in program history, the NCAA office announced Monday night.

Catawba will host Erskine in opening round action on Monday at the Johnson Tennis Center, while Wingate and Flagler will take part in the other first round game. The winners will play for a trip to Florida on Tuesday, May 13.

The South Atlantic Conference regular season and tournament champions enter the NCAA Tournament with a perfect 23-0 overall record, already setting the program record for wins in a season.

Graduate student Sofia Antolini was named the SAC Player of the Year, while head coach Mic Moore was named the league's Coach of the Year.

The team clinched its first regular season SAC title with a perfect 12-0 mark in league action, dropping just five points in 12 conference matches.

Catawba will look to earn its first NCAA Tournament victory since 2001, when it took down Pfeiffer in the opening round, 5-1.
