SALISBURY, N.C. -- Your Catawba College men's and women's tennis teams earned berths in the NCAA Championship after both teams captured the SAC regular season and SAC Tournament titles this year. The Catawba Indians are set to host the NCAA Southeast Regionals May 9-10 (men's) and May 12-13 (women's) at the Johnson Tennis Center.
The 6th-ranked Catawba College women's tennis team earned the top seed in the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Southeast Regional, earning hosting privileges for the first time in program history. The South Atlantic Conference regular season and tournament champions enter the NCAA Tournament with a perfect 23-0 overall record, already setting the program record for wins in a season. The team clinched its first regular season SAC title with a perfect 12-0 mark in league action, dropping just five points in 12 conference matches. Catawba will look to earn its first NCAA Tournament victory since 2001.
The 8th-ranked Catawba College men's tennis team earned a bid to the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Tournament for the first time in 18 years and will host a Southeast Regional tournament at the Johnson Tennis Center as the number two seed in the region. The Catawba Indians enter the national tournament with a program-record 20 wins, riding a 13-match win streak including the South Atlantic Conference Tournament championship over 10th-ranked Wingate and an undefeated mark in SAC play, earning the team's first regular season championship in program history. Catawba will look to earn its first NCAA Tournament win since 1996.
