Richmond, Va. —- The Catawba College men's and women's swimming teams had 16 student-athletes named to the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America's Individual Scholar All-America teams, the organization announced.
On the men's side, Cameron Watson and Jerzy Larys were First Team selections while Joao Oliveira, Maks Minichowski, Marshall Wells, Rowan Viles and Ryan Case earned Second Team honors.
For the women, Ella Gutenwik, Eniko Onofer, Fiona Byrne, Gabi Moll, Marit Reckmann and Sydney McKenzie were recognized as First Team selections, while Brinkley Watson, Marleen Plachetka and Sydney Peterson were Second Team picks.
In order to earn CSCAA Individual Scholar All-America honors, student-athletes must earn at least a 3.5 GPA. Those that earn an NCAA B-cut time are eligible for the Second Team, while those who individually qualify for NCAAs can earn a spot on the First Team.
The announcement comes on the heels of both Catawba Indian teams earning a top-two mark in the country for team GPA, while the Catawba women were the top Division II academically for the sixth consecutive semester.
