PREVIEW: Women’s Volleyball faces Coker in initial road tilt

HARTSVILLE, S.C. — The Catawba College women's volleyball team opens the week with its first out-of-state trip for a 7 p.m. South Atlantic Conference match against Coker on Tuesday.

Battled Hard on Friday
- Catawba and UVA Wise went the distance on Friday evening, but it was the Cavaliers who rallied back from a 2-1 deficit and claimed the win at Goodman Arena
- The blue and white received a mighty offensive contribution from Sofia Beard whose 20 kills marked the team's individual high for the year
- Tamie Boudot enjoyed a standout performance at setter, dishing out 45 assists with her first two career blocks
- With the setback, Catawba dropped to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in SAC matches, but improved to 5-3 in opening sets

Late on the Road
- The Catawba Indians play their first road match later than any SAC program by at least a week
- While most teams typically travel to a weekend tournament and play the host, Catawba participated in an event hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne in which the conference foes did not meet
- The eight-match stretch without an away contest to start the season is the longest since a nine-match stint in 2006; in that span, Catawba hosted five times and played four tilts in Savannah, Ga.

All-Time Series
- The Catawba Indians lead the all-time series by a very favorable 23-5 clip
- In Hartsville, Catawba boasts an 8-3 record over the Cobras
- Last season, the squads battled to five sets for the first time in the series as Catawba prevailed to extend its winning streak at the DeLoach Center to four matches

Scouting the Cobras
- After taking down Lincoln Memorial over the weekend, Coker sits at 7-6 overall with a 3-2 conference record
- The Cobras are second in the league and 23rd nationally for total digs (854), led by Meadow Morse's 216 digs which is the conference's No. 3 mark
- The squad's 94 total blocks are largely consisted of stops by McKay Kasper who accounts for over a quarter, racking up eight solo and 36 assisted blocks to land second in the SAC
