#23 Women’s Soccer runs past Chowan; Brown becomes winningest coach in team history

Murfreesboro, N.C. — The 23rd-ranked Catawba College women's soccer team scored three goals in the second half to pull away from Chowan on the road, led by a brace from junior Bree Ehmer. With the win, head coach Nick Brown became the program's all-time winningest coach with his 114th career victory.

- Catawba out-shot Chowan 18-3
- The Catawba Indians got nine shots on goal to the Hawks' two
- Catawba recorded six of the game's seven corner kicks
- The Catawba Indians were called for eight of 14 fouls; Chowan got both yellow cards

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
- The Catawba Indians were able to take five shots in the opening 20 minutes, but none tested the Chowan keeper
- Morin found Darbo for the eventual game-winner in the 24th minute
Ella Matthews tried for goal about 10 minutes later, but the Hawks keeper made the stop 

SECOND HALF
- The Hawks came out aggressively in the second half, trying Dähne in goal twice in a five-minute span early in the second period
- Darbo found Ehmer in the box for an insurance score in the 63rd minute
- Catawba drew a penalty in the 68th minute and Delair converted
- Ehmer curled in a goal from 20 yards out to put a cap on the scoring in the 73rd minute

GAME NOTES
- Brown earns the 114th win of his career, becoming the program's winningest head coach
- Brown eclipses John Cullen, the four-time SAC Coach of the Year, who led the Catawba Indians to 113 victories from 2001-08
- Ehmer's fifth career multi-goal game; breaks into the top ten in program history with 26 career goals
- Darbo's fourth goal at Catawba; first career game-winner
- Delair's seventh career score
