ROCK HILL, S.C. — Senior midfielder Ella Matthews represents the Catawba College women's soccer program as the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Offensive Player of the Week, per Monday release.

Matthews headlined the Catawba offense with a three-goal performance in a 5-1 victory over Wingate on Saturday, marking her first career hat trick. With six goals in 11 matches, the Huntersville, N.C., product has already tied her total from last season in exactly half the contests.

She is the third SAC player to tally a hat trick this season – all three are Catawba Indians – and trails only teammate Bree Ehmer in conference standings with 17 points.

The Catawba Indians continue conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 7, on the road against Lenoir-Rhyne. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
