SALISBURY, N.C. – Women's soccer sophomore forward Cadence Setzer and football senior center Sean McFarland earn October 7th Catawba Athletics Budd Group Athlete of the Week honors.
Setzer posted career highs across the board in Saturday's 5-1 dominant victory over Wingate. The sophomore fired off seven shots, four of which came on target, including a goal in the 43rd minute that extended Catawba's lead. The forward also assisted on Ella Matthews' first goal of the night before delivering a perfect corner kick to Ali Skinner later, who headed in Catawba's final goal of the match.
McFarland's dominance in the trenches helped allow Catawba to rush for a season-best 167 yards in a 35-24 victory over Wingate. The senior leader kept his quarterback clean, with the offensive line unit allowing just one sack in over 38 minutes of possession. The Catawba Indians offense picked up 23 first downs and were a perfect five-for-five in the red zone, thanks to McFarland and the rest of the group up front. Â
