ROCK HILL, S.C. — Jamari Broady blocked a field goal and a punt against Tusculum, earning WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors on Monday.
The redshirt junior's blocks were pivotal in turning the tide with both plays ending in Catawba touchdowns. At the end of the third quarter, Broady broke up a deep Pioneer field goal that DeWayne Gissendanner corralled and took 53 yards to the house. In the fourth stanza, he infiltrated the backfield and shut down a punt in the end zone to set up a scoop-and-score, go-ahead TD. Broady also chipped in three tackles at his normal post in the Catawba Indian secondary.
The Catawba Indians have earned Special Teams POTW laurels in back-to-back weeks following Kyle Perry's award after the Emory & Henry game.
Catawba is back at home this Saturday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. against Wingate.
