DUE WEST, S.C. — The Catawba College men's volleyball chalked up a 3-1 loss to the Erskine Flying Fleet at Belk Arena on Tuesday night, getting over the halfway point of a five-match road swing.
TEAM STATS
- Catawba (5-7) recorded a .155 hitting percentage in the matchup, not far behind Erskine's (4-7) mark of .158
- The service situation played a major factor in the Catawba Indians' downfall as Erskine landed 10 aces while allowing the visitors to drop in four darts
- The Flying Fleet held a thin advantage in digs, leading the way by a 43-42 margin
- The blue and white continued to take pride in its blocking, winning the battle 9-5 with eight different players being credited with a denial
- Miscellaneous errors added up for Catawba, who outnumbered the Flying Fleet 22-15 in miscues related to service, setting, and blocking
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Anders Christianson notched his first career double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs, giving the freshman opposite hitter double-digit kills in five of his last six outings
- Justin Arrowood paced the Catawba Indians with 11 blasts and a career-high three service aces, also doing damage defensively with eight digs
- John Clinton supplied nine kills on a team-best .381 hitting percentage with six digs on the defensive front
- Ryan Ferguson got the nod at setter for most of the contest, setting season bests of 22 assists and five digs with a block
- Logan Neitzel was a key player in the blocking game, shutting down five attacks while Christianson and Arrowood chipped in three stops apiece
- Max Adkisson guarded the floor with nine digs from his libero post as one of five Catawba Indians with five or more digs
