Men's Volleyball digs deep, blanks Newberry on the road

NEWBERRY, S.C. — The Catawba College men's volleyball team notched its second sweep of the week on Friday afternoon by taking out Newberry in a 3-0 verdict at Eleazer Arena.

TEAM STATS
- Catawba (9-11, 4-1 IVA) turned in a punishing .410 hitting percentage, setting a new season high as the second-best mark in program history; Newberry (4-13, 0-3 IVA) was held to a .103 clip with 23 kills, the lowest-ever total by a Catawba opponent
- In service, the Catawba Indians held a slight 2-1 advantage with both sides recording 11 errors apiece
- Blocking was a mostly minor part of the match as the scales tipped in Catawba's favor by a 3-2 margin with one block error tabbed to each squad
- The blue and white boasted a whopping 37 digs, tying the second-highest value in school history and registering a new season best, while allowing the Wolves to tally just 20

INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Justin Arrowood posted his 17th match with double-figure kills, totaling 12 blasts in addition to six digs and a block
- Logan Neitzel manned the middle with nine kills on 11 swings in a .636 hitting performance while tacking on two blocks (one solo, one assisted)
- John Clinton batted .500 with eight darts and chipped in a service ace as well as five digs
- Anders Christianson smashed seven kills and logged five digs
- Like Neitzel, Wyatt Eastin was a reliable presence at the net with five kills on seven attempts, one block and four digs
- Kristian Smith counted up 37 assists with seven digs, one block, one ace and one kill
- Max Adkisson captained the digging effort with eight stops on the back line
