Louisville, Ky. —- Catawba College senior shortstop Brianna Gallagher was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Player of the Year watchlist, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon.
 
The reigning South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year is off to another great start to her senior campaign, hitting .437 through 35 games with 12 doubles, seven homers with 40 runs driven in.
 
The Graham, N.C. native was one of 14 student-athletes in the Southeast region to be named to the list, which is compiled by the elected members of the NFCA DII All-American Committee.
 
The NFCA Player of the Year will be announced May 27, just before the Division II National Championships.
