SALISBURY, N.C. — The Catawba College men's volleyball team put an exclamation point on the regular season portion of its sophomore campaign with a 3-0 sweep of the King Tornado on Friday night at Goodman Arena.
TEAM STATS
- Catawba (11-13) hit .224 with double-digit kills in each set – adding up to 36 – as King (4-23) had the worst hitting day of any Catawba Indian opponent this season at .026 with 25 kills
- All 25 of King's kills were assisted, while three of the hosts' were unassisted from two overpass blasts and a rare dig kill
- Service strongly favored the Catawba Indians who outnumbered King in aces (5-1) with nine errors against the Tornado's 11
- The blue and white shot down a hefty number of Tornado swings with 11 total blocks while the visitors were held to five; each of Catawba's stops were assisted, while the Tornado tallied three solo slams
- The Catawba Indians completed the stat category sweep with a 24-18 advantage in digs
INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Justin Arrowood narrowly notched his 11th straight double-figure-kill performance with 10 blasts to go with a pair of blocks and one service ace
- Wyatt Eastin and Logan Neitzel had nearly-identical stat lines with seven kills, five blocks and one dig apiece as Eastin also added an ace
- Lucky number seven also quantified Anders Christianson's kill output as the freshman opposite hitter chipped in four blocks and four digs defensively
- John Clinton posted fours in three different categories – kills, blocks and digs – with a team-high two aces
- At setter, Kristian Smith was the dealer on exactly 75% of Catawba's kills with 27 assists, on top of tallying one ace, two blocks and five digs
- Max Adkisson was flawless in serve receive and registered a team-best six digs
