MIAMI SHORES, Fla. — The third-seeded Catawba College men's volleyball team swept its way to the semifinal round of the Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (IVA) Championship Tournament, winning 3-0 over No. 6 seed UPR­ Río Piedras on Thursday afternoon.

TEAM STATS
- The Catawba Indians (12-13) registered 36 kills with a season-low five hitting errors, batting .413 as UPRRP (0-4) had 30 kills and a .157 clip
- Catawba held its opponent without an ace for the first time this season and third time in program history, while shooting seven darts
- The blue and white elevated to make 10 blocks as the Gallitos were limited to one, marking a Catawba opponent season low
- Catawba possessed a high-volume 33-31 advantage in digs to tally the squad's third-best value this season

INDIVIDUAL STATS
- Justin Arrowood turned in 12 kills, reaching 363 for the year to set the program record, while adding four blocks, four digs and one ace
- Anders Christianson posted nine kills, a team-high five blocks and three digs as he, John Clinton and Kristian Smith led the way at the service line with two apiece
- Clinton fired six kills on a .545 hitting percentage, followed by Jacob Brown's four strikes on five swings
- Smith distributed 33 assists and shared the team-leading mark of seven digs with Logan Neitzel, who put up three kills and a squad-best five denials

UP NEXT
Catawba advances to the IVA Tournament semifinals, facing host Barry tomorrow (Apr. 17) at 5 p.m. If victorious, the Catawba Indians will play the Lincoln Memorial/Tusculum winner for the league championship on Saturday.
