Salisbury, N.C. —- Catawba College Women's Basketball announces the hiring of
Jordan Chavis as the program's next Assistant Coach, head Women's Basketball coach
Terence McCutcheon announced.
A native of Lexington, N.C., Chavis joins the Catawba staff after one season as an Assistant Coach at Missouri State University. In her lone season, the Bears were Conference USA Tournament champions and won a First Four game to advance to the First Round of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament.
"I am thrilled to welcome Jordan to our program," McCutcheon said. "She understands what it takes to compete at a high level and bring tremendous energy, character and basketball knowledge to our staff. I have no doubt she will make an immediate impact on our program, both on and off the court."
Prior to her season in Springfield, Chavis spent three seasons as the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Columbia College in Missouri. The Cougars made the NAIA National Tournament in each of her three seasons.
After starring at Central Davidson High School, Chavis lettered for four years at the University of Missouri, where she drained 149 three-pointers, good for fifth-most in program history. Chavis and All-American Sophie Cunningham, now with the WNBA's Indiana Fever, led Mizzou to three NCAA Tournament appearances as a duo.
Chavis joins a Catawba Women's Basketball program that has won two South Atlantic Conference championships and made four appearances in the NCAA Tournament in the past six seasons, including the team's run to the national semifinal in 2022-23.
