ROCK HILL, S.C. – Freshman defender Guilherme Quintas earned WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Quintas was a centerpiece of Catawba's tenacious defense in its 5-0 victory at Newberry on Saturday night. The blue and white allowed just two shot attempts (one on goal) while controlling possession for 66 percent of the match.

The freshman played a foul-free 90 minutes in the Catawba Indians' first clean sheet of the season. Quintas becomes the program's first WePlayed Sports SAC Defensive Player of the Week since 2023.

Catawba (2-0-1, 1-0-0 SAC) will be back in action on Wednesday, September 9th, when they head to Wilson, N.C., for a non-conference match at Barton (1-2-0, 0-1-0 CC) at 6:30 p.m.
