MCCORMICK, S.C. – The Catawba College women's golf team returns to the Palmetto State for the Savannah Lakes Fall Invitational hosted by Lander at the Monticello Golf Club.
The Monticello course, one of two championship clubs in Savannah Lakes Village, sits on the eastern side of Lake Thurmond less than five miles from the South Carolina-Georgia border. Water hazards pose a risk on nine holes as the front half lines a peninsula while the back features a pair of ponds.
In the Catawba Indians' first fall outing, Mary-Paige King charged to 42nd-place finish with a five-over par third round to card a 243. Taya Buxton (+29) and Rachel Carlson (+31) placed inside the top 60 in their Catawba debuts as Maddy Vogan (+32) tied for 61st. Emily Rosenschein will make her first collegiate appearance following a four-year career at Bradford Prep where she finished fourth at the 2023-24 NCHSAA 1A/2A Championships.
Out of the 15 programs in action, three were ranked in the Preseason Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll (No. 12 Lee, No. 19 Lander, No. 21 Florida Southern) while four others received votes. Five South Atlantic Conference members are set to compete at the event including Catawba and 2024 runner-up Limestone.
Action commences at 8:30 a.m. as live results will be posted on SCOREBOARD (https://tinyurl.com/y9m7wcn4).
