PREVIEW: Women's Golf heads to The Links at Stoney Point to open fall season

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Catawba College women's golf program begins its 2024-25 season in South Carolina on Sep. 9 and 10 at the Meredith Insurance Associates Fall Invitational hosted by Anderson and Erskine.

The Links at Stoney Point is located on the banks of Lake Greenwood in the Piedmont region of South Carolina. Designed by 2007 Carolinas Golf Hall of Fame inductee Tom Jackson, the par-72 course covers 6,718 yards.

Mary-Paige King and Maddy Vogan are the lone returners from the 2023-24 squad. King averaged 78.17 strokes per round last season, setting a new Catawba freshman record. Fellow sophomore Vogan logged an 80.14 stroke average with a season-low round of 73. Taya Buxton tops the lineup after a strong season at Paine College as freshmen Rachel Carlson and Valentina Moran are set to make their Catawba debuts.

Event co-host Anderson won the 2023 edition and landed in the Preseason WGCA Mizuno Coaches Poll at No. 5. Wingate and Limestone are back in the field after placing in the top five.

The Catawba Indians' season tees off tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
