FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. — The ninth-ranked Catawba College men's golf team is set for the high-stakes Fripp Island to Bermuda Invite hosted by Golfweek at Ocean Point Golf Links. An exemption to a PGA Tour event is awarded to the individual medalist, the first-ever award of its kind at a Division II tournament.
The Team
- Catawba is fresh off a seventh-place finish at the mostly-Division I Bash in the Boro hosted by Georgia Southern last week
- Following a pair of middle-of-the-road tournaments, Pranay Kapur excelled in Statesboro, Ga., with a par performance including a third-round 69 to place 25th
- Paul Esnault and Alec Barker wound up three and four shots above par, respectively, as Esnault tacked on a 69 and Barker tallied two 72s
- Ilia Antoniadis registered an uncharacteristic 10-over-par tournament after shooting five and six strokes under par in the season's first two events
- Connor Carter competed as an individual and tallied his second round in the 60s through five rounds for the season; he holds the squad's lowest stroke average
The Lineup
1. Paul Esnault (8 rds., 71.88 stroke avg.)
2. Ilia Antoniadis (8 rds., 71.63 stroke avg.)
3. Alec Barker (8 rds., 72.00 stroke avg.)
4. Pranay Kapur (8 rds., 74.50 stroke avg.)

The Field
- Including Catawba, six top-10 teams and five more top-25 programs per last week's SCOREBOARD by Clippd rankings are in attendance
- No. 2 Lee and No. 3 West Florida headline the field with each team bearing a tournament title; Lee won the Samuel T. Dunning Invitational, while West Florida was victorious in the Copperhead Championship just two weeks ago
- The South Atlantic Conference will be represented by three programs: No. 9 Catawba, No. 30 Lincoln Memorial and No. 51 Lenoir-Rhyne
- Preliminary coverage by Golfweek indicates that it is the first time in college golf history that a Division II player will receive an exemption to play in a PGA Tour event, the Butterfield Bermuda Invitational
