Austin, Texas —- Catawba College Softball student-athletes Kary Hales and Brianna Gallagher both earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC)'s Academic All-America teams, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
Hales was a Second Team selection with a 3.97 cumulative GPA in Sports Medicine to pair with an All-American season on the field. Hales was a unanimous First Team All-Region selection and named a First Team All-American by D2CCA.
Gallagher was named to the Academic All-America Third Team, boasting a 3.73 grade point average in Psychology. Gallagher was also named a First Team All-American by each of the three organizations that produce All-America teams. The rising senior was Catawba's first SAC Player of the Year in program history.
The pair are the first teammates in Catawba Softball history to both be named Academic All-Americans and are the program's first Academic All-Americans since Sydney Goertzen in 2021.
