Meadowview, Va. —- The Catawba College women's basketball team utilized a 28-point performance from Mary Spry to pick up a road win over Emory & Henry on Saturday in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action.
TEAM STATISTICS
- Catawba shot 29-for-62 (47 percent) from the field, while Emory & Henry went 23-of-58 (40 percent) from the floor
- The Wasps made 12 three-pointers out of 30 attempts (40 percent); the Catawba Indians were 7-for-19 (37 percent) from long range
- E&H was 9-for-12 (75 percent) from the foul line, while Catawba went 8-of-13 (62 percent) at the charity stripe
- Catawba held a marginal 37-36 edge in rebounding
- Emory & Henry recorded 16 assists to 13 turnovers, while Catawba had 13 assists to a season-low eight turnovers
- Catawba led in points in the paint (30-20) and bench points (23-7)
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
- Spry scored a game-high 28 points on 12-for-24 shooting
- Brooklin Ingram hit three three-pointers en route to a 15-point performance
- Saniya Wilson added 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting off the bench
- Sheree Gidney added eight points in 15 minutes
- Kairah Dixon-Booker matched Ingram's team-high total of seven rebounds
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER
- Emory & Henry opened up a seven-point lead early off a Gracyn Hall three-pointer
- The sides traded baskets from there with the Wasps leading 25-18 after 10 minutes
SECOND QUARTER
- Catawba quickly scored the first four points of the second; Ingram's jumper cut the deficit to three
- The Wasps led 37-26 near the midway point of the period
- A 13-4 Catawba run buoyed by three-pointers from Wilson and Ingram brought the Catawba Indians all the way back to within two
- E&H clung to a 47-41 halftime lead
THIRD QUARTER
- Julie Janus' layup at the 2:26 mark tied the game
- Catawba took its first lead since the opening basket of the game on an Ingram triple with 22 seconds to go in the third
- The teams were deadlocked at 58 heading into the final 10 minutes
FOURTH QUARTER
- After trading baskets within a single possession of the lead, Spry's jumper at the 2:35 mark helped Catawba create some separation, up five
- E&H got within two points at the 1:38 mark, bit it would be the last points of the game for the Wasps as the Catawba Indians completed the turnaround win
