Evansville, Ind. —- Catawba College senior Marit Reckmann earned NCAA Division II Elite Scholar-Athlete Award honors on Wednesday, becoming the first Catawba student-athlete to earn the prestigious honor. Additionally, the 10th-ranked Catawba Women's Swimming team added four All-America performances on Wednesday night in Evansville.
HOW IT HAPPENED
PRELIMS
50-Yard Freestyle
- Reckmann earned a spot in the Championship B final with a mark of 22.95, good for 10th among the prelim qualifiers
- Eszter Pajor swam a time of 23.77 seconds, good for 36th in the prelims
FINALS
1,000-Yard Freestyle
- Fiona Byrne earned her second consecutive All-America honor in the Women's 1000 Free, placing fifth for First Team All-America laurels with a mark of 10:03.05
- Danielle Meinema also earned All-America honors in the 1000 Free, placing 12th with a time of 10:10.36 for Second Team accolades
50-Yard Freestyle
- Reckmann placed 15th in the Women's 50 Free final, picking up Second Team All-America honors along the way with a 23.11-second mark
200-Yard Medley Relay
- Catawba's 200 Medley Relay team of Eniko Onofer, Fernanda Regina Pera Dos Santos, Sydney Peterson and Reckmann placed 10th in the Women's 200 Medley Relay, adding yet another Second Team All-America honor to the team's day
