Rock Hill, S.C. — Catawba College graduate student Sofia Antolini was named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Antolini repeated as the Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference singles player with a 9-2 overall record at the top-ranked singles with a perfect 6-0 mark in SAC play.
Rin Igarashi was also a First Team All-Conference selection in singles with an 11-2 mark overall and a spotless 8-0 mark at the 5th-ranked singles position.
Antolini and Igarashi as a team were named First Team All-Conference in doubles play as well, as the pair with a perfect 15-0 overall record and 9-0 mark in league play.
Ami Miya was Catawba's third selection for the All-SAC First Team in singles play, sporting a 10-1 overall record and perfect 5-0 record at #3 singles action against league opponents.
Miya and doubles partner Lili Drukerova were Catawba's other First Team All-Conference selections in doubles with a perfect 12-0 record overall and 6-0 mark at the top-ranked doubles position in SAC play.
Hanna Bougouffa earned Second Team All-SAC recognition after ending the regular season with a 7-0 overall record and 5-0 mark in league play at the #2 singles position.
Drukerova picked up Catawba's final All-Conference singles selection with a Third Team All-SAC pick in singles play. This season, Drukerova was 5-5 overall in singles play and 2-2 against league opponents at the 4th-ranked singles position.
Agata Budnik and Tina Gomes were selected as Catawba's third All-Conference doubles selection with a nod to the All-SAC Third Team with a 6-0 record on the season with all decisions coming in SAC play.
Catawba won its second straight SAC regular season championship with an undefeated 11-0 run through the league schedule. The Catawba Indians earned the top seed at the SAC Tournament, where they are the two-time defending champion.
They'll face 8-seed Carson-Newman in the SAC quarterfinals on Thursday at 2 p.m.
