Rock Hill, S.C. —- The Catawba College softball team earned five All-South Atlantic Conference selections, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.
The five all-conference picks match the most in team history; the Catawba Indians last had five All-SAC picks in 2011.
Grace Flynn was a First Team All-Conference selection at second base, the first all-conference selection of her career. She hit a career-best .364 in the leadoff position for Catawba, while leading the league with 52 runs and 30 stolen bases.
Dakotah Wilkins was the other First Team All-SAC selection for the Catawba Indians, sliding in at the utility/pitcher position. The freshman from Summerfield, N.C. enjoyed a stellar season in her first year with the program, hitting .336 with 12 stolen bases along with a 7-1 record in the circle with a 4.64 earned-run average.
Brianna Gallagher earned Second Team all-conference honors, completing a career in which she was named an All-SAC performer in each of her four seasons. Gallagher completed her third year of her career batting north of .400 with a career-best 18 doubles and 53 RBI. Earlier this season, Gallagher broke the program's career hits record.
Micaela Hartman was named a Second Team All-SAC outfielder for the first time in her career, hitting .375 for the season with 30 base hits and eight walks in her final collegiate season.
Alexis Monroe was Catawba's final all-conference selection, named a Second Team All-SAC performer as a utility/non-pitcher. Monroe broke out as an everyday starter for the Catawba Indians with 115 at-bats after just 25 in her first two seasons combined. Monroe ranked second on the team with a .365 batting average with seven doubles and 25 RBI along with 17 stolen bases.
Catawba opens up postseason play this weekend at three-seed Carson-Newman in a best-of-three series. Game one is set for noon on Saturday before game two at 1 p.m. on Sunday and an if-necessary game to follow.
