Rock Hill, S.C. — Catawba College student-athletes Maks Minichowski and Marit Reckmann swept the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Male and Female Swimmers of the Week honors, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
Minichowski, a junior from Poland, earned four individual event victories as well as two relay event wins last week. The All-American took home the 200 Free and 100 Free event victories in the dual meet against 8th-ranked Wingate with both marks ranking tops in the SAC.
Minichowski added two more victories in separate events the next day in the tri-meet with Milligan and Roanoke, touching the wall first in the 50 Free and 100 Breast, which are also the fastest times in the league. His mark in the 100 Breast currently ranks fourth in the country.
Reckmann, a senior from Germany, fueled Catawba's top-10 ranked win over Wingate over Halloween, winning two individual events and two relays events in the win over the 9th-ranked Bulldogs. Reckmann earned wins in the 50 Free and 100 Free, posting the top times in the league in both events. The senior was also a part of the 400 Medley relay team that earned an automatic NCAA bid with their qualifying time.
On Saturday against Milligan & Roanoke, Reckmann added another pair of wins in the 100 Free and 200 Freestyle relay.
Catawba Swimming prepares for its midseason meet next week, traveling to Queens University of Charlotte for the Fall Frenzy, hitting the water from Nov. 20-23.
