Five Catawba Indians earn WGCA All-American Scholar status

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Catawba College was represented by a program-high five golfers on the 2024-25 WGCA (Women's Golf Coaches Association) All-American Scholar Team per the organization's Monday release.

Mary-Paige King, a sophomore marketing major, is a repeat winner of the award as she was one of three Catawba Indian golfers to land on the team last season. Junior exercise science majors Taya Buxton and Rachel Carlson were selected, as well as true freshmen Sara Kristinsdottir (accounting) and Valentina Moran (marketing).

The WGCA named 1,499 women's collegiate golfers across 403 different programs at all levels nationwide to the All-American Scholar Team. In order to be chosen, candidates must possess an overall cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, retain amateurism and remain on the team's roster through the season's completion, and compete in 50% of the team's regularly-scheduled rounds and conference championship.
