Winston-Salem, N.C. — The Catawba College Women's Track & Field team took home two conference titles on Saturday at the opening day of the South Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships, standing two points back of first place.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pentathlon
- Lilly Wolf earned a podium finish in the women's pentathlon with a third-place finish following top-five marks in each of the five events
- Haleigh Washington and Tatiana Chigwerewe also turned in top-10 finishes in the women's pentathlon with eighth- and ninth-place finishes, respectively
One-Mile Run Preliminaries
- Emer Mcglynn, Natalie Almond and Eden Barnwell all qualified for the mile finals on Sunday with top-eight placings in the prelims
400-Meter Dash Preliminaries
- Letsi Burgos punched her ticket to the 400m dash finals with a 57.11-second mark in prelims, good for seventh
60-Meter Dash Preliminaries
- Efe Egberi earned a spot in the Women's 60m dash finals on Sunday with a 7.73-second showing on Saturday
800-Meter Run
- Mandi Pollard and Barnwell earned spots in the 800m run finals on Sunday with top-six times in the prelims
60-Meter Hurdles Prelims
- Aaliyah Raleigh ran a sub-9 second 60m hurdles on Saturday to qualify for Sunday's finals
5,000-Meter Run
- Madi Clay won the SAC title in the Women's 5K, the first time winning the conference title in the event in her illustrious career
- Hannah Caudill added a podium finish with a third-place finish while also breaking 17 minutes
- Justine Sanchez and Morgan Pollard also earned top-10 finishes in the event
Distance Medley Relay
- Catawba's DMR team of Mcglynn, Skylar Southern, Anna Peeler and Mandi Pollard won the conference title in the indoor DMR with a mark of 12:03.90
Long Jump
- Egberi placed as the conference runner-up in the women's long jump, reaching 5.72 meters
- Elizabeth Deen added a fifth-place finish with a leap of 5.41 meters
