PREVIEW: #10 Men’s, Women’s Swimming vies for first SAC titles

Kingsport, Tenn. — The 10th-ranked Catawba College men's and women's swimming teams head to Kingsport, Tenn. in search of their first South Atlantic Conference team titles in program history Wednesday through Saturday at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.

(MANY) RETURNING CHAMPIONS
- Eleven Catawba swimmers played in a role in a SAC title in last year's meet and all 11 student-athletes return to defend their title at this year's meet
- On the men's side, Maks Minichowski was a four-time champion en route to being named Swimmer of the Meet (50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Breast) and Nazar Herashchenko was the conference champion in the 500 Free
- For the women, Fiona Byrne defended her titles in the 1000 Free and 1650 Free, Ella Gutenwik took home the 500 Free crown, Gabi Moll was the 200 Breast champion, Eniko Onofer was the winner in the 100 Butterfly and Marit Reckmann took home 50 Free and 100 Free titles
- Additionally, Marleen Plachetka, Brinkley Watson, Sydney McKenzie and Sydney Peterson swam legs of SAC champion 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay swims
- Head coach Matthew Gearing has earned both SAC Men's and Women's Swimming Coach of the Year in the last two seasons – men's in 2024 and women's in 2025

- Catawba will look to earn its first conference meet team titles in program history this weekend
