Kingsport, Tenn. — Catawba College freshman Jules Remy set his second South Atlantic Conference meet record in as many days on Thursday at the SAC Championships in Kingsport, as the 10th-ranked Catawba men's swimming team added two more SAC individual titles on Day Two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Men's 100-Yard Butterfly
- Lassi Niemi and Ryan Case were the two Catawba Indians to earn a spot in the 100 Fly championship final
- Niemi earned a top-half finish in the championship final of fourth with a time of 48.30, while Case placed eighth with a mark of 49.04
Men's 400-Yard Individual Medley
- Jules Remy set his second SAC meet record in as many nights with a meet-record 3:51.79 swim in the men's 400 IM, besting the previous mark that stood for three seasons
- Remy nearly bested the rest of the field by six seconds in the event
- Alejandro Alvarez also earned a spot in the championship final, placing seventh with a mark of 4:09.49
Men's 200-Yard Freestyle
- Freshman Sammer Abdallah earned a podium finish in his first SAC Championships, placing third in the men's 200 Free with a time of 1:38.01
- Nazar Herashchenko and Cameron Watson punched their tickets to the championship final as well, placing fifth and seventh
Men's 400-Yard Medley Relay
- After earning their first-ever SAC champion in a relay event on Wednesday, Catawba's men earned another on Thursday as George Fykatas, Maks Minichowski, Niemi and Matt Howard won the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:12.98
