Kingsport, Tenn. — The 10th-ranked Catawba College women's swimming team added another South Atlantic Conference title on Thursday when Danielle Meinema broke the school record in the 200 Free in an all-Catawba 1-2-3 finish. The Catawba Indians maintained their lead atop the team standings after day two of the conference meet.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Women's 100-Yard Butterfly
- Sydney Peterson and Sydney McKenzie finished second and third, respectively, in the Women's 100 Butterfly with similar marks of 55.55 and 55.61, respectively
- Eniko Onofer and Brinkley Watson also punched their tickets to the championship final in the event, placing fifth and seventh, respectively
Women's 400-Yard Individual Medley
- Gabi Moll clinched a spot in the women's 400 IM championship final with a strong preliminary swim; she finished sixth with a time of 4:33.49
Women's 200-Yard Freestyle
- Meinema set the school record in a SAC title performance in the Women's 200 Free, being the first in program history to break 1:50 with a mark of 1:49.97
- Marit Reckmann and Fernanda Regina made it an all-Catawba 1-2-3 in the event, finishing within just over a half a second of first with times of 1:50.30 and 1:50.53
- Ella Gutenwik and Watson made it five Catawba Indians to make it to the eight-person championship final, placing seventh and eighth
Women's 400-Yard Medley Relay
- Catawba's 400 Medley relay team of Eszter Pajor, Regina, Peterson and Clara de Paoli finished as the SAC runners-up, touching the wall in 3:47.71
