Charlotte, N.C. — The Catawba College men's and women's track and field team kicked off its outdoor season on Friday with their first day of action at the Charlotte 49er Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Women's 400-Meter Dash

- Onii Bivens was the top Division II finisher in the Women's 400m dash with a mark of 56.21, good for sixth overall

Men's 400-Meter Dash

- Kengel Christopher was the top DII finisher in the Men's 400m dash, placing seventh with a run of 48.15 seconds

Women's 3,000-Meter Steeplechase

- Justine Sanchez broke the school record in the 3K steeplechase with a mark of 11:45.89

Women's 1,500-Meter Run

- Mandi Pollard was the top Catawba finisher in the women's 1500m run, placing seventh overall at 4:34.28

Men's 1,500-Meter Run

- Seth Caudill turned in a top-five finish in the men's 1500m run as the top DII finisher in the event at 3:50.92

Women's 5,000-Meter Run

- Madi Clay won the individual title at the Women's 5K with a mark of 16:54.37

Men's 10,000-Meter Run

- Michael Martinez placed fifth in the Men's 10K with a mark of 31:25.02
