Emory, Va. — The Catawba College men's track and field team is placed ninth after Day One of the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, but are positioned to earn a top finish on Day Two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Long Jump
- Jayden Bennermon picked up a podium finish in the men's long jump, reaching 7.06 meters, good for third place in the event
1,500-Meter Run Prelims
- Seth Caudill qualified for the men's 1500 finals with a sixth-place finish with a mark of 4:03.05
400-Meter Dash Prelims
- Jeremiah Hines and Kengel Christopher punched their ticket to the 400m dash prelims with time of 48.34 and 48.63, respectively
100-Meter Dash Prelims
- Miles Stephens and Victor Smith booked spots in the 100m dash finals with mark of 10.30 and 10.36 seconds, respectively
800-Meter Run Prelims
- Seth Roy clinched a spot in the 800m finals with a time of 1:55.54, good for seventh in the prelims
200-Meter Dash Prelims
- Stephens placed second in the 200m dash prelims to earn a spot in the SAC finals on Thursday
3,000-Meter Steeplechase
- Don Leimkuhler placed eighth in the men's 3K steeplechase with a time of 10:03.13
