Ella Matthews was named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Matthews recorded both game-winners in 8th-ranked Catawba's 2-0 week, including the game-winning goal in the Catawba Indians' 1-0 win at 4th-ranked North Georgia with 14 seconds remaining in the match.
The Huntersville, N.C. native has come on strong for the Catawba Indian offense, scoring three goals in the last four games, helping Catawba lead the league in goals scored this season.
With the win over North Georgia, Catawba took over the top spot of the United Soccer Coaches' Southeast Region rankings and currently stand tied atop the SAC standings with a game in hand over Lenoir-Rhyne.
Matthews and the Catawba Indians return to Frock Field on Wednesday, Oct. 22, hosting North Greenville for a 7 p.m. start.
